Confession: I am probably the only one in this progressively benighted age who still plays with counted cross-stitch. I haven’t done it for years and felt pleasantly like a 12-year-old again, but I was trying for rich and varied textures on a baby patchwork blanket I’m making to donate. More on that project when I’m done.
I found that Aida cloth is pretty cheap. And the internet is full of free patterns. I got mine here, where I found 43 different alphabet styles available.
If you’re interested in sewing at all, the news of the week is that Joann Fabrics has McCall’s patterns on sale for $0.99, through Saturday. I believe this is a company-wide sale, not only local. They are ordinarily between $15 and $20 apiece, and I will carefully avoid airing my opinions on that.
Wow! I wish I had a Joann’s close. Maybe it is better that i don’t. I watch thrift stores for patterns and really have a nice little stash. Usually I just pull out the same basic ones again and again.
I can’t wait to see pictures of your blanket!
This reminds me of the days when we used to sit in the living room and knit.
Makes me grin cause what teenage girls did THAT?
