Hi there, ladies.
Today I’m helping introduce a new e-book, just released by Kendra Graber. It’s called Silent Grief: Hope for Surviving Early Miscarriage.
Kendra has six children in her home, and four more who are awaiting her with Jesus. Some of you will recognize her from her blog, Living in the Shoe.
In her new e-book, she starts by sharing her own story of miscarriage, then takes us through a Biblical look at life within the womb, our feelings of loss and grief, stories from other moms who miscarried, and tips for walking alongside a friend who is experiencing this pain.
Kendra shares symptoms of early miscarriage, some reassuring advice for the medical side of things, and tips for finding closure after losing an unborn child. She’s gentle, sympathetic, and down-to-earth. Throughout the book, she calls women to seek the Lord and trust His hand in all of life’s experiences.
If there is one thing I’m taking from the book, it is permission to grieve.
I find some books on miscarriage or grief too heavy to carry. Silent Grief is short (less than sixty pages) and simple—largely story-based, with some poetry, bright pictures, and a spirit of faith.
Here is a photo where you can see Kendra’s face. This is important to me, to see the eyes of the person I’m listening to. She’s not only a smiling mom lying on the grass surrounded by her healthy children.
Kendra gave me a review copy of the e-book, and wants to give another copy to one of my readers. Please note my two disclaimers here:
- You don’t have to have a Kindle to read this. It is available on Kindle, or simply as a PDF document, able to be opened and read on any computer.
- You also don’t have to have miscarried. This book can help you understand miscarriage in order to encourage friends who have experienced it—Or perhaps your copy will become a special gift for a close friend who has recently walked through pain. Entering the giveaway is not an admission of miscarriage. I have to add this disclaimer not only for those of you who haven’t miscarried—but also for those who have, and will feel too exposed to talk about it here. You don’t have to share your story or use your real name. But you are loved.
Silent Grief is not an expensive e-book—only $2.99, available here on Kindle or here on PDF. Please consider sharing with someone you love. Leave a comment to enter!

Sometimes it still hits me, 7 years later, how much I miss my little angel baby……God has blessed me with four gorgeous daughters since then. But I ‘ll always feel a kinship with other mothers whose babies quietly slipped away into eternity without even a hello or a good-bye…
Sounds like an excellent book. I really hope that those who have not miscarried will read it so they understand those who did just a wee bit better.
I would like to read this book to know how to respond to friends who have experienced this pain. I have not had such a loss, but know that it could happen to me too…and it scares me.
Thank you, Shari, for your willingness to do this review! I am so glad you mentioned to include those who have not suffered miscarriage as being part of this giveaway. Those ladies are incredibly important to us as they can be a tremendous amount of support.
I would also like to mention that I’ve received so much feedback on this going into print, that we are looking into Carlisle Printing to make it into a paperback for us. This way ladies can buy it as a gift to give a miscarrying mother!
Thanks again!
God bless.
~ Kendra
Printing it would be excellent! I would much rather hold it in my hand then have it on my phone.
I agree that I would love to hold it in my hands to read!
Definitely print, please!
I would buy the book so that I can better understand and care.
Yes! Print please!
It is now a sure thing that it will be printed! We’re also tossing around the idea of making it up into a gift package with a matching journal, bookmarks, etc. Still pretty preliminary, but we should at least have the book out in print within a month!

Awesome! Make sure it gets to ontario!
Will do!!
I’d love a copy on hand to give out! I’ve never miscarried but almost all my friends have. I Would love to learn how to better relate to this heartbreak.
Thank you for the giveaway! Would love to read this book!
Would love to have a copy!
This sounds like a must-read. I would love to have a copy.
I would love to have a copy to read. How well I know the grief of losing a child……
I have friends and sisters-in-law that have experienced miscarriage that I’d like to care about better. Sounds like this book will help!
I have two little angels waiting for me in heaven. I would really like to be able to walk along side others better.
Would love to have it!
I’m blessed by women who are willing to be vulnerable enough to share their stories and journey with others. Truly those who go through hard times and allow God to mold them are some of the most beautiful people I know.
I have a close friend whose story is in this book!!! I proofread it earlier!
I know these stories will help us in that!!
I would love to read all of the book! I think we need more ‘permission’ to grieve. Also wisdom ‘how’ to grieve and courage to face it!
I could not go to church on Mother’s Day, I could not go to baby showers or even hold a baby for a long time. It is such a vulnerable place!!
I don’t have any biological babies, here or in heaven. But I feel that Jesus is holding a baby for me there!!!
And He gives me many ways to ‘mother’! here and now
Would like to read this. I think each lady’s way of grieving is different, and a fresh perspective is good.
Would be so glad to read this n I really hope it works out to get it printed.
I would love to read this book!
I just talked to a cousin today, who recently had a miscarriage. I’d love to share this book with her!
I have not experienced a miscarriage, but I often wish I had something to offer my friends who have. This book sounds like the right mix of practical and healing for me to learn how to care.
Looking forward to reading this. We have 5 little angels waiting for us.
Would love to read this to better know how to relate to friends that have dealt with this.
Would love to share this with friends when they go through miscarriages. Each year in March we especially think of our little angel baby. God has been so faithful and good.
I would love to read this, to understand miscarriage better. Thanks for the giveaway, Shari & Kendra!
No, I haven’t miscarried, but people I love have experienced this loss…..
I would enjoy reading the book.
I would like to learn more about how I can care for women who have experienced this loss. Recently I was able to comfort a 7 yr old girl whose mom lost her baby. She was heartbroken and I cried with her.
Can you add me? Miss you so much, Sis!
Me please….:)
I would love a copy of this book. I miscarried the day after your first post on miscarriage in March. Your posts, as well as the comments following, definitely helped me to process this new journey.
I would enjoy reading this book for several reasons. We have two little ones in heaven. We went through about a year and a half of learning to trust God and also to get my focus off myself. God has blessed us with our first little one, who we are eagerly looking forward to welcome into this world very soon. God is good and faithful!! I would enjoy reading others’ views and also be more of an encouragement to my friends when they go through a miscarriage.
A little side note and connection… I am one of Wendy Zook’s younger sisters. She introduced me to your blog. Also I took the Christian Womanhood class at MBS that your Mom taught.
I really enjoy reading your thoughts. May God bless you!!
Hi! I remember you, Julie!
I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriages, and sooo happy with you for the upcoming birth of your firstborn. Much joy!
I wasn’t planning to enter this giveaway until this morning when a friend stopped by to tell me she had just lost a baby. I’d love to give this to her.
I would love to read this book.
Wow, I’d love to have this book. We lost our first baby a few months ago… still so many emotions that leave me feeling all mixed up inside… unknowns, pain, sorrow, loss, hurt, jealousy; it’s a jumbled tangle we are still trying to sort out. So thankful for the reminder that Jesus carries our sorrows! Would be glad to know how others cope.
I like the Lord Jesus more than random =) Please tell us a little more.
